A website for everyone.
South Lyon High School Bands aims to make information about music opportunities, schedules, and family resources accessible to students and families who use different devices and assistive technologies.
What accessibility means on this website
Accessibility is built into the site; you do not need to activate a special mode. The pages are designed to support keyboard navigation, browser zoom, screen readers, clear headings, descriptive image text, visible focus indicators, and reduced-motion preferences.
Ways to use the site
- Keyboard: Press Tab to move to links and buttons, Shift + Tab to move backward, and Enter or Space to activate the selected control. Press Escape to close the photo viewer or mobile navigation when open.
- Larger text: Use your browser’s zoom controls or your device’s accessibility settings. On desktop browsers, Ctrl + Plus (Windows) or Command + Plus (Mac) usually enlarges a page.
- Screen readers: The site includes semantic headings, labeled controls, and alternative text for meaningful photos to help assistive technologies describe content.
- Reduced movement: If your device is set to prefer reduced motion, the site reduces optional visual animations.
Translation and language assistance
Use the Translate button in the top navigation to view an automatically translated version of the current page using Google Translate. The original site is in English. Translation opens an external service in a new tab, and availability may vary by device or region.
Automatic translations can make mistakes, particularly in course credit, graduation requirements, scheduling details, and Varsity Letter policies. Google Translate may not translate text embedded in images, documents, or external services such as forms. For important school information, or to request assistance in another language or accessible format, please contact [email protected].
Accessibility standard and ongoing review
We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as a technical target and consider WCAG 2.2 improvements where feasible. This statement describes our accessibility goals and features; it is not a certification that every page or linked service meets those standards. Human testing with assistive technology and review of linked third-party services remain important.
